CHANGING FOR THE RIGHT REASONS

There are many ways to resolve a problem, but the optimal solution never appears first. First, we must undertake a solid reflection and a realistic assessment of our limitations and needs; we need to be ready to welcome the wise advice of people with experience - and all this leads us to the desired solution.

Real life cases

Two companies operating in different fields, with equally different needs. However, their reality is similar: any company that produces (manufacturing sector) must move forward, because competition is present all around. And the customers? They always want the best.

Capmatic , a company dedicated to the design and manufacture of high-quality customized packaging solutions, had to operate its forklift on the same floor space as the workforce. Despite the forklift driver's vigilance, there were risks for the employees. Since health and safety at work was the employer's priority, he had to think about possible solutions. The idea of an overhead crane was suggested to him by one of our project managers and sales director, Mr. Michaël Adam. The choice fell on the self-supporting overhead crane since the roof did not meet the requirements of a so-called suspended installation. The advantages he obtained with this solution are increased safety for his employees and better productivity. And what required the presence of two employees for a particular task (the forklift driver and the handler), now only one employee is needed (the overhead crane operator).

Tornatech , for its part, specializes in the design and manufacture of fire pump controllers. Its problem? The company was expanding and the need for space was acute. The solution: build a new building according to the space requirements for its production line. The project manager had his plan in mind: seize the opportunity to add larger and stronger beams in strategic locations to the plans of the new building to accommodate the suspended overhead crane system. This way, he could keep his floor space for his production tables (no columns on the ground). Since the roof met the requirements, he chose not one, but several suspended overhead cranes equipped with chain hoists, and for some, vacuum lifting systems for optimal performance.

What can we conclude from all this? Well, if some companies equip themselves with overhead cranes, it is often for the following reasons: the ergonomics obtained in the workplace (reduction of injuries and chronic and persistent pain), load control and the significant gain in operational efficiency. And you, what are your reasons?
